THE COUNTRY, LIBRARIES AND READING
Opinion Essay
Introduction
Fifty years ago, Colombia was a country basically illiterate, in which knowledge was communicated orally through religious or political images. Now days, according to unesco data, 64% of the adult population are illiterate, which would imply a rate against the country's education level. Unfortunately, the situation is like this in Colombia because the rates of reading, buying books and reading comprehension of children, youth and adults are very low. In this regard it is important to understand that reading is essential to raise the educational level of people, and to improve the economic and social development of the country.
Main body
Although school enrollment has increased significantly, its quality has not improved in the same way. In general, schools do not develop the skills, in order for students to properly read the complex and autonomous texts, so that students come to adulthood with the skills and habits required to stay current in their professions and update their knowledge. Without a school in which children acquire the habit of reading, with a population able to read well, you can not achieve this competitiveness to be succesful in a world that demands ever-greater preparedness.
Improving reading skills leads to the domain of language, therefore it enriches the quality of communication, the whole basis of individual creativity and a source of fun and enchantment of creation and recreation. Read the man offers the possibility of coming contact with the most intelligent of all men, the opportunity to talk with the best companions, who have the most exciting stories, and you know the most beautiful poems, in effect it opens the door, wider to a world full of culture. Above all, it develops the ability to look critically at the world and society.
Another aspect that is affecting the development of reading levels in the population is the high cost of books. Many people are interested in reading, but the price of books does not allow them to have the desired access to good literature. Faced with this problem, the government and in particular some mayors have become aware and have opened libraries in different cities, in order to facilitate the reading to as many people as possible.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the image culture that invades the world today is a culture of persuasion and authority. It is increasingly easy to read images without the effort, and without the analysis that requires true reading. The image simplifies, strengthens and encourages reading in a critical way. No one reads without question, without thinking about the validity of what says the newspaper or the book, without stopping to think whether what is said is true or the text is well argument. While it is possible to argue with these images numb criticism and make the spectator an object of manipulation. Colombia to enter the world of reading may be entering the world of scientific thinking and reading which might not release us from violence and poverty and if we pound some form of ignorance and credibility.

MOVIE REVIEW
THE PERFUME
Story of a murderer
This movie is based of the best selling novel by Patrick Suskind, the perfume is a story of a murderer and a big obsession to find the essence of the perfect perfume, the novel takes place in the eighteen century in France. The film is directed by Tom Tykwer, he was born in 1965 in Wuppertal. Starts his career at the age of 11 years and this film began in 2006 in France.
The tale begins with Jean Baptiste, he was born in the streets of Paris, he is a child different to the others because he doesn’t talk but he has a talent that changed him in to a murderer. Jean Baptiste has used this talent to find the scents and smells that are around him, to create the best perfumes around the world. This idea transform jean Baptiste in to a murdered in France.
It was a masterful movie that brought the concept and essence of the story of the book and plotted a perfect atmosphere to create one of the best movies of the year. The cast is excellent because this movie has good actors, director, and places in France that makes this movie a strange and beautiful film. The principal idea of this novel creates a nice story and in the movie it impacts all the expectation.

OPINION ESSAY
The concept of freedom is very relative, not only to the person itself, but also to the time, place, culture and customs in which the person is located. Freedom is a concept that has changed over the years but it is actually the basic concept that has changed in various ways, the concept or idea of freedom in people is the ability to do, think or act in a manner as you want without boundaries or barriers. It is believed that freedom is not this; it is much deeper than simply doing what we want no matter to what extent can affect our actions, supposedly free, to the other. If you really want freedom you must respect the liberty of others.
Today, some people seek their freedom by taking away the freedom to others, taking them away from their families, exposing them to serious illnesses, a change of climate, hunger and many more negative factors of which show that only think about their own freedom. The kidnappers of the FARC want either freedom of expression, political and opinion among others, require this, but you take away the freedom of being able to live in peace.
Unfortunately, not only these people enough for them to take away this kind of freedom they reach the point of take away the freedom to live, and kill them in the worst ways, after death, they do not respect the bodies so they do not mind passing over them. This group of the FARC removed the freedom not only to kidnap and kill, also moving families from their homes.
Normally it is believed that the rules imposed on societies that are subtracted or limiting our freedom, but is quite the contrary, the rules, constitutions, norms, etc.. are those that allow our freedom because without them our society would be a total chaos and we can not act freely but would continue to act erratically without a guide. It is ideal to comply with these standards that allow our coexistence of communities that comprise our society, in this way we would have the necessary freedom.
If we demand freedom we must not remove anyone or take precedence over the freedom of others. Freedom, seen from any point of view must be respected in the same manner as was required. The worst that can happen to human beings are losing their freedom.

EL OLVIDO QUE SEREMOS
Background
There is a saying: You never know what you have until you lose it, and this novel is true example for it. Like a way to rebuilt the figure of a father, like a (homenage) of the son towards the figure that inspire him in his life, and a way to show the violence lived in Colombia from a few decades ago Hector Abad Faciolince presents us “El olvido que seremos.”
A book that is very close to his biography and other stories, he tells the story of the author from the father figure. A story that at the same time is the history of a country debated between the political ideas, where the right and the left are confused in the paramilitaries, the guerrilla and the drug cartels are inside the government.
With a beautiful family of four daughters and a son, the female presence was a dominant factor in their homes, despite the machismo that dominated at that time. In liberal thought deeply, Hector Abad had a very particular way of handling their lives and their homes, a situation that make the other people uncomfortable, but that does not invalidate any other field.
But it was this way of thinking and his vocation of service to the needy than they Tache him as a revolutionary communist very dangerous for the interests of the church and government. Abad always fight for their ideals no matter how many enemies have.
Main points of plot
In August of 1987, his father one epidemiologist doctor, Hector Abbot Gómez, was murdered by hands of the paramilitary army. The life of young Hector was seen deeply marked. The story of his life next to its family in Medellín, the loving memory of the father and the tragic death of his baby sister, are important threads inside these memories that carry implicit in it, the testimony of the history of heart wrenching violence that has lived in the last forty years in Colombia. The doctor Hector Abbot Gómez was a faithful defender of the human rights, promoted ideas of improvement on public health and the basic systems of hygiene.
General comments
In November of 2006, when this book was released to the market, immediately became the most widely read of the year in Colombia. This book is full of smiles and bitterness, generates pleasure of living but also shows the great feeling of sadness and anger that leads to murder and cruel as strong as this beautiful character, which is none other than the author's father.
Recommendations
It's a pretty interesting book for young readers and adults. Thousands of Colombians, directly or indirectly feel identified with this story. It's sentimental, a little tragic and shows the cruel reality of Colombia.
